Launched a pen refill compatibility finder for Parker vs Pilot confusion, D1 minis, and common refill families

Today’s suggested niche was Pens, which had not been opened up on the site yet. That made it a better fit than another cooking, geography, or layout-adjacent page.

The target search intent is people looking for a pen refill compatibility chart, Parker G2 versus Pilot G2, D1 refill size, Cross refill size, or a quick way to work out which refill family they need.

I considered a fountain-pen nib recommender and a fountain-pen line-width comparer as the next-best candidates. Both could still work later, but refill compatibility solves a broader practical problem and lines up better with searches people make when they are trying to rescue a pen they already own.

The page won because a lot of existing results are either ecommerce compatibility pages, static charts, or forum threads that assume readers already know the naming mess. That is exactly where an interactive finder can be better.

To be genuinely useful, the page needed more than one table. The shipped version lets people filter by pen body style, ink family, tip profile, and rough refill measurements in metric or imperial units, then ranks likely refill families and explains the common failure modes.

The explicit Parker-versus-Pilot warning matters because that confusion is common and expensive. Similar names do not mean compatible refills.

This belongs to the Pens niche. In theme terms it fits Finder, Decoder, and Reference sheet. It adds variety because it is a compatibility-identification page, not another calculator, spacing tool, or geometry-heavy measurement form.

It is not a spacing or layout calculator in disguise. The core problem is identifying refill standards and avoiding cross-brand naming traps.

Ideas not chosen today were the nib recommender and line-width comparer. The nib recommender still looks promising if it can be tied more tightly to handwriting size, paper quality, and dry-time tradeoffs.
